Description

This development was one of the first Big W stores in the UK and is situated on the St Andrews retail park opposite Birmingham City football club

A curved rafter portal frame solution was adopted to provide the asthetics required by the end user.

Foundations were shallow lightly reinforced pads and strips, constructed on vibro compacted made ground. Numerous back filled cellars had to be removed prior to the made ground being vibro treated.

The historical cellars and foundations from the previous site usage were fully investigated before the foundation strategy was developed. This enabled the development to enjoy a trouble free construction process.
